Funny my grandma had the exact same red stool I used to open it to smell the ancient odor that was in (you could open the top)
Damn I have to find it and open it where did I put this thing.
edit: found it, t’was in the garage, it lost the smell :'(
Could’ve been the UK in the 1990s to tell you the truth, especially in the North.
Communism is very sad.
they had a TV.. this is actually not bad considering Romania suffered probably the worst out of the Central Europe countries under Ceaușescu
Looks like early 80’s suburban US.
what you can’t see in this picture is the poverty, the secret police, the hunger, the pain
could be anywhere
Where’s the Christmas orange?
1970 ?
Santa is about as close to communism as I’m comfortable with.
Picture taken circa 2014
lovelyyy!
simple times
romania🕴 ima say one word in romanian thats the same as in spanish, Carne
Where is the glass fish? This is not Romania
Ah… those times when a TV could support a tree.
It looks like Christmas time in non-communist Italy. But the place I lived in looked grimmer.
I assume this is mid-late 80ties given that the picture is in color?
Fake. There’s no oranges. It ain’t an old-time Romanian Christmas if there’s no oranges.
I’ll be showing my grandkids Christmas pictures from repressive Europe 2021, it will just be me in the picture since I’m not allowed to see family and had to show my papers to do anything.
But where is the mandatory lace with a corner hanging over the TV screen?
Televizor, pereti fara igrasie, tablou, mic bradut, mama si copil.
E chiar frumos, simplu, modest, da, dar frumos.
Could have been Norway in the 80’s or early 90’s.
That baby so done with this.
The decorations are just as I imagined, depressing. But the mom’s love toward her child is priceless.

Same as in 80s Yugoslavia.
