  1. This was accomplished by probing and keeping Russia off balance along a wide front too. Pretty incredible.

  2. And the media still call it slow because they have nothing big for the headlines.

  3. And reportedly, ukraine hasn’t even comitted their main offensive force yet.

  4. The fact Ukraine has achieved this while negotiating Russia’s ‘scorched earth’ policy of mining and booby trapping anything they can’t conquer is an achievement in and of itself.

I hope the next month brings good news and swift progress.

  5. Slow and steady, boys.

Every day, the Russians grow a bit weaker, and more demoralized.

    Soon, the crackup will come…

  6. Yes and it’s slow. Right. But looking at an offensive by looking on a map is plain stupid and needs to stop. It’s a war of attrition.

There is now plenty attrition of eg:

Command and leadership, eg himars to generals, but decimating leadership and officer core in general.

Support systems, eg logistics, amo depots

Fire support systems, eg drone operation, artillery, counter battery

Communication systems, eg taking out communication devices, cameras

Learning and adaption systems, eg taking out important staff and specialists

When all those backend systems are slowly torn down, there will be no fighting and fire power in the Russian army. It will slowly brake and disintegrate. Morale will go from extreme bad to no discipline left. Not willing to follow command, and even if, not able to. Game over. When the Russian army is brittle enough, the poking strategy will show where to use the mobility and the good positions, and they will disintegrate.

  7. And this was under skies that are dominated by Russia.

    “Slow” counteroffensive indeed.

  8. Its also important to note that Ukraine is attriting Russian artillery at an unprecedented rate. Once the degradation of Russian artillery reaches a critical point, they will be unable to suppress Ukrainian positions and advances which should reduce losses and speed up the Ukrainian counteroffensive a great deal.
