I inherited this from my Opa, and hope I can find some information on it here. Any one have an idea of how old this is, is it a common item in your older generations’ homes?
Looks like a tourist trinket. It’s not a household item, but some older Germans may have some of them. As for how old it is, maybe you can find a stamp at the bottom.
Seems like a classic Bierkrug (beermug)
From Wartburg seems legit.
Go to an old fashioned looking restaurant and ask them 🙂 in germany it will always work just go and ask
FRAGEN SCHADET NIE
and yes its traditional decoration
For more information. It looks like a tourist trinket. As it says on the Krug from the „Wartburg“. The place in Thüringen where Martin Luther was hiding and translated the Bible to German to the common used Bible (Luther Bibel). Nice place to visit, by the way.
