  1. ~~You take that plastic thing off and you wash it. That screw in the middle is what holds each socket.~~

~~However if you’ve never done this before, finding a circuit breaker for those sockets and turning it off is the best way to go with it.~~ **Be safe at all times, don’t do it on your own.**

Edit: as u/chill3dkr0ete recommended, don’t do it. Find an electrician to do such things.

  2. Get a fully insulated screwdriver for the right screw type (e.g. [Elektrikerschraubendreher or VDE-Schraubendreher](https://www.amazon.de//dp/B0036DF2G0)).

Disconnect mains, prevent reconnection and test if the outlet is free of voltage.

Remove the little screw in the middle and remove the outlet.

Clean the outlet with fat solvent and a dishwashing brush.

    Reassemble everything and reconnect mains.

  3. Remove it and put it into the dishwasher, be careful when you remove it and turn off the fuse.

  4. Turn off the electricity at your fuse box and loose the screw so you can put it down and clean it but make sure its dry when you put it back together cause your FE will detect and cut all off (Deutsche Sicherheit)

  5. Look at the fuse box, switch off energy in that room, clean, switch it back on. Just don’t use too much water or cleaning fluid.

  6. Turn off power via fuse, unscrew the whole cover with the two small philips screws in the middle, the pull the outer plastic cover from the wall ( the inner ones will follow ), put it all into the dishwasher and then reassemble it.

  7. 1. Turn off the circuit breaker.
    2. Use a non-contact electricity tester to confirm there’s no electricity.
    3. Use Qtip dipped with Isopropyl to clean.
    4. Wait for it to dry before turning on the circuit breaker.
    5. Plug in a surge protector that has the LED lights that will let you know this receptor is green for good or red for bad.
    6. Then plug in your ekectronics for usage.

  8. 1) Switch circuit breaker off

    2) Check if the outlet is really off. Use a multimeter or one of those phase tester screw drivers (forgot the name of the darn thing). MAKE SURE THE DAMN THING HAS NO POWER

    3) Then follow cleaning advise posted here by others.

This will prevent your buddy from uploading a video of you to r/DarwinAwards

    Safety first.
