  1. There’s two Irish gentlemen at my work, and while not directly on my team, I’ve had a few good conversations with them over the past few months. Recently, we got to talking over what will get them back to Ireland- standard answers of “hit a certain job title” or “ma or pa gets to a certain age”. But one of them followed up with “or if I have kids- I’d want them to be safe.”

I initially thought that answer was ~~a joke~~ craic , but he followed-up dead pan: I’d want them to be raised well and safe.

And that got me thinking. Sure, the world may feel constantly chaotic, and I can recognize that the US cultural exports can be subpar. But fundamentally, both of these guys viewed Ireland as a safe place, a smart one, and home. I don’t know what it yet means to be Irish, and this is mostly just stream-of-conscious drivel, and I also don’t know if I ever will be Irish (or even live there). But every time I have visited, or spoken with you lot, I’m reminded of a sensible culture and mindful people.

  2. Only watched it for a year? Ah lads we are practically handing out passports. We need to be making this mandatory 20 times viewing.

Comhghairdeas mo chara! Cead Mile Failte!
