I don’t remember a time we were well prepared for anything. Financial crisis, Covid, Ukraine war… hell every war!
Pretty sure 13 years of the Tory party has done that regardless.
Nobody wants to prepare for it because they know that the changes that will need to be made are deeply unpopular with the British public.
They see it as much better to react to it and try to limit the damage after the fact so their political opponents can’t use their preparedness as “wasting tax payer money” when it isn’t as bad as was predicted due to prepared plans to limit the damage.
Just look at how many idiots repeat the crap about how “the millennium bug was overhyped and a waste of money”.
