Hi there! I’m looking for some tips and suggestions on the travel itinerary for the Norway road trip this summer. Any feedback is super helpful!
So we’re going to Oslo in late August and we’ll have 6 full days + 1 day with the flight back from Oslo late evening. It’s 4 people in 1 car, 2 of them are drivers. We want to do a simple road trip to Flam + either Stavanger or Geiranger and return back to Oslo. Here’s what we have in mind (all driving times are Google x1.5 based on what I read about Norway traffic and roads):

Option A: Stavanger + Flam

Oslo – Kristiansand – Stavanger – Preikestolen – Ryfylke scenic route – Skare – Hardanger scenic route – Voss – Flam – Oslo
* Day 1: Oslo to Kristiansand (3.5-5 hours driving time)
* Day 2: Kristiansand to Stavanger (3-5 hours driving time) + Preikestolen hike
* Day 3: Stavanger to Skare via Ryfylke scenic route (4-6 hours driving time)
* Day 4: Skare to Voss via Hardanger scenic route (1.5-4 hours driving time)
* Day 5: Voss to Flam (1-2 hours driving time) + Flam Railway + hike / boat
* Day 6: Flam to Oslo (4.5-6 hours driving time)
* Day 7: Oslo stay OR full stay in Flam after day 5

Option B: Flam + Geiranger

Oslo – Flam – Aurlandsfjellet scenic route – Loen – Gamle Strynefjellsvegen scenic route – Geiranger – Fossbergom – Valdresflye scenic route – Leira – Oslo
* Day 1: Oslo to Flam (4.5-6 hours driving time) + hike / boat
* Day 2: Flam Railway + Flam to Loen via Aurlandsfjellet scenic route (3.5-5 hours driving time)
* Day 3: Loen to Geiranger via Gamle Strynefjellsvegen scenic route (2-3 hours driving time)
* Day 4: Geiranger hike / boat + Geiranger to Fossbergom (2-3 hours driving time)
* Day 5: Fossbergom to Leira via Valdresflye scenic route (2-4 hours driving time)
* Day 6: Leira to Oslo (2.5-4 hours driving time)
* Day 7: Oslo stay OR day trip to Alesund after day 4

So I wanted to check a few things. Are these doable at all? Any suggestions on the routes and which one would you prefer (both look quite cool to us, this will be our first road trip in Norway, so we want to see scenic routes and some major attractions)? Anything to be aware of on these routes? We’re pretty flexible, so the stop points and general route legs can be changed too. Thanks all in advance!
