A girl who was raped by her older brother has had no counselling, psychiatric assessment or support, in “marked contrast” to her abuser, on whom a “plethora” of reports were submitted to court, Mr Justice Paul McDermott has noted.

The girl’s father told the Central Criminal Court that she is on a waiting list for counselling and is too young for counselling at the Rape Crisis Centre.

He said services for the girl seem to have been “put on the long finger.”
