Hey!
So next week we start renting our small RV (<6m long) in Tromso for 2 weeks.
Basically we plan on driving south, visit Steigen, then drive on the coast of Helgeland (FV17), probably for the first week, then driving back north to Bodo through E6, take a ferry to Moskenes, visit the Lofoten Islands and Vesteralen, and drive back to Tromso to return the van.
We thought that Lofoten might be slightly less crowded on the first week of August because Fellesferien will be over so that’s why we put it in the second half of the trip. If it’s still too crowded we’ll pay for camping spots anyway, I just hope it won’t be too much trouble parking for hikes and stuff.
We would also like to visit Senja but I’m not sure whether we should do that in the first week right after leaving Tromso, or back from the Lofoten Island to end our trip.

My questions are:
\- We would like to know what are to you the absolute best hikes in all that area with great viewpoints? (Helgeland, Tromso of Finnmark incl Lofoten, Vesteralen…). I looked up [ut.no](https://ut.no) it’s really great but there doesn’t seem to be a ranking system, like allowing to filter the must-do hikes or users notations. We will be well equipped with sturdy hiking boots and rainproof gear, but my partner won’t be able to do overly long hikes or with too much elevation (600m should be a sweet spot but we can add a few longer ones if it’s really a must-do).
\- Other than hikes do you have any recommendations for Helgeland in particular? just drive the scenic road at our rhythm and stop here and there? Some islands/archipelagos look fantastic but probably not with an RV though.
\- the RV we get has autopass, do you need to pay each time we take a ferry or you just board it and it scans the plate and adds the trip to the bill? (we’re to pay everything when returning the RV). Does the ferry ticket price include only the driver or also any passenger?
\- all in all do you think 2 weeks to visit around Helgeland scenic route then driving back through Bodo, Lofoten and Vesteralen is too ambitious or is it doable? We don’t have to drive as far south as Namsos apparently we can get back to E6 through road 76 south of Lomsdal-Visten National Park or even further north through road 78. If you’d do it any other way I’m welcome to suggestions and to the whys!

Tusen takk 🙂
