I feel like they’re gunna get sued for this. Especially in regards to the employees who lied to the journalists and said it was because Farage didn’t have enough money in his account.
Feels like there’s multiple avenues for Farage to sue on.. Defamation/Equality Act.
It’s alright for Farage, Braverman and all to constantly look for ways to block other people from having things but when the shoe is on the other foot it’s waah waah waah.
Conservative business owners have been looking for ways to discriminate against minorities legally for years
shoe, foot, other etc
What is it conservatives love to say? Nobody has a right to my business?
Ridiculous stuff considering I’m sure they host accounts from all sorts of unpleasant but less high profile names.
Well done on giving the Daily Mail material for weeks and feeding the persecution complex.
Coutts inclusive? I thought the whole idea of private banking was that it was exclusive only to the very rich.
Had a quick skim and on page 12 they say he has ‘zenopobic, chauvinistic and racist views’ and describe him as a ‘disingenuous grifter’.
Farage likes to claim he is being persecuted for brexit but the evidence he himself has presented show they have dropped him because they think he is a racist conman, which is pretty much what he did to the people he considered to be too racist for UKIP.
I’m *shocked* to hear that Coutts is restrictive when selecting who they do business with.
The free markets!
Wait, not like that!
Funny how the Farages of the world are happy for business to discriminate against others, but not themsleves 🤔
Remember yesterday when everyone was calling Nigel Farage a liar? Wonder if they’ll still be defending this shit.
He made many appearances on Russia Today before the war. https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2014/mar/31/nigel-farage-relationship-russian-media-scrutiny
There’s still plenty more private banks out there he could approach but if he’s dead set on a British private bank he could try and open an account with Hoares which incidentally is the most fitting name for him to bank with.
Farage got offered a Natwest account, the scumbag should be deported anyway, who cares about this racist
This did all seem rather perfect. Nigel whines about not being able to get a bank account for political reasons, the answer that he actually just doesn’t have enough money for them to bother with is *hilarious*. We really are just back to it being entirely up to the bank who they do business with really especially if they have dodgy connections overseas, I thought this was part of the conservative ideology. If some lefty got lots of money from Cuba or China or something he wouldn’t cry for them.
Rails agains the “elite” and then cries when he not treated like one. Make your mind up Nige.
So the Tipp-Ex has finally dried.
How many days was Farage blowing his halitosis breath over it so he could then make it say what he wanted it to say?
Who would have thought that another conspiracy theory would come to fruition “banks will shut your out based on a social media post”. Welcome to the CBDC world people: where your money has memory and is programmed to behave at will.
Gotta get trans people in there somehow, can’t leave us alone for a day. Knew this would be our fault.
I find it really weird that Coutts chose this hill to die on. Like, they are fine with their clients [evading tax](https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/queens-bank-accused-helping-wealthy-5239178), [defrauding their own government](https://www.theguardian.com/world/2016/dec/01/revealed-coutts-bank-managed-tax-havens-high-risk-clients-jefri-bolkiah-brunei-panama-papers), and [handling the proceeds of crime](https://www.theguardian.com/business/2012/mar/26/coutts-fined-money-laundering-checks) but they draw the line at saying mean things about illegal immigrants?
Be interesting to see how the people who’ve been gleefully posturing on this sub take this.
probably “something something, *daily heil*, teehee ignored”
The whole things seems a bit unjust and possibly part of a worrying trend, even if you do not like the chap.
A bank had decided that a persons personal views were ‘at odds with our position as an inclusive organisation’, so they are out. So what we have here is discrimination masked as ‘inclusivity’, bigotry dressed up as tolerance. The board of Coutts may well have been appalled by the any number of legitimate political parties and there members, but blacklisting them from there service does not seems ‘inclusive’, as they claim to be.
This shows that political discrimination is alive and well: people are being attacked or, in some cases, sacked because they express the wrong opinions. It happens time and time again that people are targeted for their views on faith or politics, or on the traditional family or gender. And this can presumably cut both ways, someone with liberal views on trans rights or immigration can be a likely to face discrimination as someone of right wings views, like in this case.
The Daily Mail could have gone some much more interesting angles on this:
– Read the documents that Farage managed to get hold of by exercising his European Law rights
– Documents reveal that Farage is an even bigger cunt than anyone imagined, even Coutts thought that he was too much of a bigot and antivax conspiracy theorist to want to have anything to do with him
– Man who campaigned for businesses to be allowed to discriminate against gay customers gets annoyed when a business discriminates against him for being an arsehole
Instead they went for a rather dull victimhood story where Farage presents himself as being a victim because he can’t have an elite bank account and might have to get a normal bank account like his voters and the Daily Mail’s readers who he and they clearly despise so much.
Whether you like Farage or not, it’s alarming that a bank can even do this. They’ve got some questions to answer!
