There keep being leaks, which cause extreme controversy, and then delaying it. I’m now wondering if the leaks are intentional to gauge reception? This has happened like three times now.
Also, unsurprising the attorney general advised it may be unlawful. Forcefully outing people would undoubtedly lead to violence and other forms of abuse, and directly conflict with safeguarding responsibilities let alone potential human rights issues. Not to mention potentially lead to conversion therapy which will (in theory….) be illegal soon
Every public body that handles LGBT youth (stuff like housing sector and social workers) talk about youth homelessness and run aways from abusive homes. Hopefully many depts are ringing alarm bells over policy designed by sensationalist headlines. Not just unlawful side
Trying to ban something as harmless and beneficial as social transition is not based in reality
‘To be delayed’ is a really odd framing for guidance that was unchecked by any medical or mental health based boards and thus was subsequently found to be both unhelpful and in breach of the government’s own equality laws…
Come on BBC. You don’t need to play nice with them. Surely the story here is that the government tried to implement something unlawful, not that it ‘will be delayed’.
Delayed again. Was promised at the beginning of the summer term. I’m wondering if it is ever going to be issued, the Attorney General is just an excuse as could have been consulted months ago.
