Saint-Malo, France

  1. Interestingly, the whole place was rebuilt brick by brick as it was bombed into the ground during the second world war. Although many of buildings are exact replicas, only the external walls and a hand full of buildings are the originals. This has meant that the city is in excellent condition to this day. You can freely walk around the walls at no cost, and enjoy a number of excellent restaurants, shops and hotels in the old city.
