  2. Maybe their recommendations on the best way to proceed were too similar to Sinn Féin’s policies again and so Leo has decided to not take their expert advice.

    It’ll be interesting to see what happens if his and his government’s ideas, against the advice of their tax experts for the second time, continue to cause the cost of living and cost of housing to go up like they did after they ignored them the first time, and how they’ll blame that on everyone but themselves.

  5. I don’t want tax cuts, I want confidence my tax is being spent well. I want public transport that works, a health system that works, and some hope that the housing crisis will be meaningfully confronted.

  7. They need to do something with the capital gains tax too, I don’t have much savings but Jesus Christ inflation is going to eat into it big time.

  9. Politicians are not trying to solve our problems. They are trying to solve their own problems —of which getting elected and re-elected are number one and number two. Whatever is number three is far behind.

  12. Bottom line is tax cuts are not going to fix the multitude of economic and social issues we currently have. FFG and Leo have proven over many years now they don’t have the competency nor the forethought to put Ireland back on the right track.

    That’s not to say Sinn Fein does either, they are only polling well based on revolt and discontent amongst the electorate. But there is no question we need a change to the political status quo in this country.

    There should be a crack team of investigative reporters targeting each politician and looking at donations and favours.
