  1. Another brainless knee-jerk reaction to a nothing story to try and win far right votes.

How exactly is a bank supposed to explain why an account is being closed when tipping off rules explicitly prevent them from doing so?

“Sorry, we’ve made the decision to close your account because the NCA are investigating you for human trafficking.”

  2. Nigel Farage’s bank account gets closed unexpectedly and the government steps in to change the law so that this is made much more difficult.

I think he may be one of the most powerful people in public life.

  3. Talk about setting a dangerous precedent that seems pretty ill-thought out for the consequences this can have in the industry as well as for combatting financial crime.

If a person is declined for an account they **already** have the right to ask for a reason for the banks decision except certain reasons itself.

Rishi even said yesterday, if people are unhappy with decisions, go to the Financial Ombudsman Service.

  4. If only the Government was this responsive to actual problems in our society.

A sole Right-wing gobshite gets his account closed for commercial reasons and within hours the Tories are rewriting laws. Meanwhile the rest of us just have to wallow in the shit that is Tory Britain for years and years.

  5. NatWest apologises to Farage.

Makes me feel they got scared and Farage had a good legal case against them.

Especially with the ridiculous comments in the dossier

  6. Odd how fast they can actually try and change things when it suits them.

  7. Wow that was quick. Its not like there’s anything more important going on the Parliament should be discussing

  8. Very fishy this entire story, Farage was given a 1to1 interview on Newsnight last night and I was incredulous at the whole thing

  9. Yes, because that’s what really affecting people right now, that brown-toothed chode Farage’s ~~banking woes~~ consequences of his own actions.

I’m sure this will make everything better for everyone.

  10. Yeah, cause the last time they tried to placate whinge bag Farage worked out so well for the country.

  11. How are some of you people upset by this

It’s an incredibly good thing that the regulations will be tightened on this. I’m genuinely dumbfounded by how partisan people are because it was Farage who brought this to the public’s attention.

This is an excellent outcome for EVERYONE
