1. Part of a wider gang present.

   Whatever he did, he’s 14. No doubt a vulnerable child, hanging about with older lads.

   Yes, he should be punished for the crime but don’t write off a child for life when you don’t know their background or situation.

2. It’s grim that kids that young are doing that. How do you solve the problem of antisocial young people in Dublin who have no regard for anyone or anything when the problems been allowed to get so big? I feel a heavy handed Garda response would just throw fuel on the fire

3. I can see the defense solicitors’ comments already: “hard upbringing, promising athlete, caught up with the wrong crowd, learned his lesson…..”

11. Just takes an American tourist for them to take any interest unfortunately. Hope the victim is okay, don’t expect any justice here.
