I just failed trying to imagine how that gratitude, some people wish for, should look like in their eyes …
I mean, shouldn’t those people be grateful themselves? Ukraine is not only defending itself!
Slava Ukraini!
Good job Zelenskyy!
Can we send the Ukrainian Ambassador to UK to the front lines for a few weeks just to observer how people (soldiers / citizens) deal with stress and death on a daily basis?
No one has come out of this looking good.
The only winners are Russian trolls.
Ben Wallace clearly doesn’t watch Zelensky’s nightly videos where he thanks everyone ad nauseum.
Many people here admire Zelensky, but he was a very pathetic and incompetent president before the war, losing his approval rating at a very fast pace [1]. And in this situation we are seeing him doing the same practices that he used to do back then.
Dude was also Ukraine Representative in International Maritime Organization.
So i believe it is more importantly to dig into him being fired from IMO position , especially in light of blockade.
I think Zelenskyy has dismissed him because he was incompetent.
There would be plenty of time to be grateful and show gratitude AFTER THE WAR IS OVER. In the meantime give Ukraine everything she needs to defend herself and keep her people alive.
They thank their partners pretty much every day, and there are more important things to accomplish at the moment say thanks after the war is over ffs.
Seems a bit petty from Zelenskyy but can’t break the party line during war
Honestly I bet Ben Wallace regrets his wording after this overblown fallout. We knew what he meant, but he didn’t word it well at all and would have been more useful to Ukrainian leadership being advised that privately.
The question wasn’t framed well at all, I’m a bit pissed at Kay tbh – and a better response would’ve been “As President Zelensky emphasised, we are very grateful, we’ll do all the work etc etc… in terms of sarcasm, my understanding of the British is they have a deep appreciation of well used sarcasm *slight smile* I also feel that Mr Wallace’s comments weren’t conveyed to President Zelensky with the spirit in which they were meant, as Mr Wallace has explained.” Aka, nothing to see here, we’re all friends, give us more weapons plz and thank you.
Sorry to see him go, I hope the next person is as good and his next job role utilises his skills.
Well, it was a stupid and gratuitous comment that was certain to end his career in such a prestigious post.
Am I the only one that thinks this whole thing is a fucking nothing-burger?
