Hello there! Foreign driver (and passenger) here! Curious why everyone in the left lane moved over so far left when it was just traffic construction?

Thank you!

  1. To leave a gap for emergency vehicles. There likely is a reason why traffic is slow. Now move over already

  2. The term is “Rettungsgasse”. You must do this. Cars on the left lane move to the very left, cars on the lane next to it move to the very right.

Under NO circumstances are you allowed to use “free lane” that is created this way, even if some motherfucking morons do it. This lane is for emergency vehicles only.

  3. It’s a legal requirement in slow moving traffic, whatever the cause. It leaves a clear space for an emergency vehicle to get where it’s going more quickly

  4. I’m still shocked that this doesn’t seem to be common sense all around the world, but yeah it’s to make space for possible emergency vehicles. It’s called Rettungsgasse (Rescuelane)
