Sadiq Khan wants Londoners to step in and say ‘maaate’ to pals when they are sexist to women

  3. Get all Muslims to start saying ‘maaate’ when their pals start talking a little too *extreme* as well then.

  4. As a woman who experienced “a lot” of street harassment as a teenager, frequently from groups of teenage boys who were a few years older than me. I can clearly recall the few times when one of them uttered the phrase “Nah, leave her alone, man” or a variation of it. They took a really small action, but it had a significant impact on my day.

  5. None of the men in my friend group would use sexist language. The issue is that if someone does, it’s likely that they belong to a friend group where everyone says or agrees with sexist crap.

  6. Men ought to hold one another responsible. It isn’t complicated science.
