  1. Wasn’t she just calling for more security for TDs?

  2. How high up is the minister’s office? The Oxygen must be very thin up there.

  3. You’re not going to not be unsafe occasionally unless you’re safe in which case you actually might be unsafe

  4. > “I’ve been in the city centre myself – be it from a work capacity – but also in a private capacity,” she said. “I’ve been at concerts locally down in the 3Arena, I’ve walked up to the city centre, I’ve been in the centre – and I do think the Gardaí themselves, the presence that they have there.”

Is this a joke? She’s been in the city centre a few times herself, nothing happened the times she was there, so it’s grand and everyone else should shut the fuck up?

  5. What actually has to happen for a minister to resign in Ireland? How low does the bar need to be?

Surely McEntee & O Gorman are at that threshold where they’d be under pressure to step aside given how utterly incompetent they’ve proven to be in their respective roles.

  6. What a useless fucking clown. She is stealing a living

  7. I mean, it’s a perfectly reasonable comment that makes complete sense, and it’s not as if Dublin is in any way anomalous here compared to other cities. Anyone expecting total safety is a dope.

But because of who said it, r/Ireland will get hysterical.

  8. As minister for justice wouldn’t she have Garda protection all the time? I’d feel pretty safe myself in that case.

  9. Especially when close to a Garda station right Helen, i mean if only there was a deterrent… What another absolutely useless Minister…

  10. This is a perfectly reasonable thing to say if garda numbers aren’t plummeting, there arent people walking around with 100s of convictions, the prisons arent way over capacity and of course you aren’t the person responsible for all this

  11. Interesting that she’s saying the opposite of Varadkar …. his comments must have turned up the heat on her.

She must be starting to realise the complete and utter mess she’s made.

  12. I thought FG were supposed to be big on law and order? 🤔🤔

  13. I mean she’s obviously correct, but it’s probably not what needed to be said at the moment.

  14. Can we all get a gun so,recon a Glock would make me feel safe all time sure if the minister has given up we should all just go mental.

  15. I guess the government are trying to downplay the incident and scared they will lose tourism money.

  16. Fine gaelers really are intensely blind to the well-established link between gutting social services and rising crime, violence and drug link.

I don’t think it’s because their policies have consistently been to gut social services and now there is this spiking indiscriminate violence, crime and drug abuse.

guess we just have to accept increasing violence, crime and drug abuse because and that we are not safe as a result but that there is no cause and nobody responsible for it

  17. Dublin: you’re going to be not safe all the time, everywhere.

  18. She is on the news saying Dublin is safe and the guards commissioner for Dublin say they have adequate resources to do what they need to do…for fuck sake!!!!nothing is going to change as they think everything is fine

  19. What the fuck is wrong with this excuse of a human being. The exact opposite should be true.
