Europe weighs Christmas curbs as Omicron sweeps continent

  1. It’s weird how conspiracy nuts said for months a new variant would pop up just before Christmas & spread like lightening so governments would lock everything down again for Christmas & new year…

  2. Tough call… Although there is a lot of pressure on governments to put on new restrictions, they need to take a more pragmatic approach.

Broad based restrictions always were a double edged sword, more so now that you have a division in vaccination status in population. Newer restrictions wont change the mind of the unvaccinated into getting the jab, while on the vaccinated you strain them into thinking “what’s the point then?”

The booster uptake will never be 100% of the eligible population for it, and upcoming doses – if any – will trend lower.
