I remember, during the 2000s, Germany used to be in atleast the top 10 in terms of military strength. Even sometimes it managed to make its way to the top 5. But ever since 2020, and according to “www.globalfirepower.com”, the Germany military has drastically fallen. Currently in 2023, it is now sadly the 25th strongest country in terms of military strength.
This really hurts me, as I’ve seen people online making fun of how “Poland is getting revenge on Germany” (Poland is in 20th place) and how countries like Iran and Israel are stronger. People are making fun of Germany for how weak their military is now.
But my question is, why? Why as of the 2020s, Germanys military has been declining? Have they been focusing on economy more or something? If anyone has a answer, please let me know, thank you.

You are personally hurt by the military strength of a country?! Over the years funding was more and more cut for German military. Nowadays it is notoriously known for defect and not replaced equipment.
The war in Ukraine pushed this topic up the political agendas and already did see a result with the additional funding of the military last year.
