The high streets are dying, either we make better use of these properties or just leave them to rot. The biggest waste I have seen is usually the spaces above the shops, just walk down a high street and a large percentage of the floors above the shops are just dead space. I have been a retail manager and many of the shops I have managed have had the equivalent of a 3 story house just empty above the shop.
