So I got a Finnish ID, and soon after I got a letter saying I have to activate my Finnish ID, but do not need to if I will use it to travel.
I need to though to activate it for electronic transactions ? I use my bank for that usually..

It seems that I have to download a software etc tec, seems cumbersome do I need to it ? I don’t plan to use my ID for any transactions..

You need to activate it if you want to use it to confirm your identity online. Most people use their online bank credentials for that, but digital ID is possible too
Does someone actually use their ID card with a card reader over bank ID? Reveal yourself, I’m sure there are dozens of you.
