‘They want us out’: bitter feud between locals and ‘newbies’ splits genteel Yorkshire village

  1. I’ve visited there on many occasions,I live quite close, and I can tell you, it’s not genteel in the slightest.

  2. I live in a village, in the last few years there has been an influx of people from urban areas,. My only observation is that the community spirit has gone for some reason, I cannot say why with any authority. People objecting to church bells, or “country smells” is quite common though.

    People have moved into villages next to my airfield, they object to the aircraft noises (mainly glider launch planes and microlights), not surprising there are aircraft noises near an airfield is it?

    Young people are moving out as they can’t afford the houses, new people moving in don’t want low cost housing as it impacts the price of their house.

    Rural life is changing and not for the better. Oh well, nothing we can do I suppose.

  3. Rural NIMBYs should be crushed. Build a 100 unit flat block in their garden, and for every complaint, add another story
