While the larger peninsula is known as the “Cape of Helsinki”, the originally settled smaller cape is called the [Cape of Estonia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vironniemi). No idea why exactly it was named after Estonia in 1640 besides the fact that it was opposite of Estonia across the Gulf of Finland.
Some of the land has been reclaimed while a lot of it is due to natural causes: the land is still rising steadily since the last ice age.
As someone living outside Helsinki, I wake up everyday, hoping this is the day it all sinks into the ocean without human casualties.
