  1. “Heat-related deaths can occur in a variety of ways. Heatstroke can cause death in some cases because the body becomes too hot for the organs to function. Others pass away from dehydration as a result of the body perspiring to stay cool. Faster blood flow causes cardio-vascular failure in a lot of people, especially those who already have heart and lung disease.

  2. It’s fine, Italy already made plans for this. They are importing 425k new workers /s

  3. Wouldn’t it be sensible to switch to nightshifts whenever there is a severe heatwave for those who typically work outside during the day?

  4. In the Middle East, working outside between 1000 and 1600 is prohibited during the summer.

  5. And yet, despite everything happening in Greece and Italy, we still see demand for climate inaction rising.

Italy infamously denying the link between emissions and what’s happening here on live TV. Spain seemingly heading further to the right, and in the UK we just had labour win several seats but blame the one they missed out on due to attempts at curbing local pollution. Now a minister is calling for “environmentalism not to be a crusade” as a reason to delay energy efficiency upgrades.

Very frustrating position to be in where people are complaining about the heat and impacts of it, but seemingly then doing nothing about it at the voting box

  6. More people in Italy die each year of the Cold than the Heat..

    No headlines about that ?

  7. The workers at the Bari branch of McDonalds went on strike, because it was unsustainable to work in a kitchen at 40 degrees.
