Germany Moves To Legalize Cannabis, Second Country After Malta In Europe

  1. No, Georgia legalized before Malta. And Germany will be the first to legalize sales outside of some weird clubs.

  2. Good news! Now they can finally legalise in the Netherlands as well without risk of having half of the neighbouring countries come to visit.

  3. I don’t even smoke, but I think there would be big benefits to legalizing Cannabis. Less criminal activity that deals with selling/consuming it as well as the profits going directly into the economy and benefiting countries.

  4. And I bet Sweden will be the last one to do so.

Why? Because for a country eager to seem so progressive, we are pretty damned slow.

  5. It’s in the coalition agreement. Good advancement from that one appointed MP of an older government that argued “it’s banned because it’s bad” and then once asked why it’s bad, said: “because it’s illegal.”

    Progress!

  6. This will probably take a long time to get through parliament however… Can’t see this happening soon (1-2 years) with COVID being a huge health priority. Maybe towards the end of the current coalition’s term.

  7. No European country has legalized weed. Till now, it is only Uruguay, some US states and territories and Canada.

Legalization only counts as legalization if the shops are legal – if the whole market is legal. Just allowing possession of small amounts and self-grow is progress, yes. But not what legalization means.

  8. Don’t lynch me for saying this but of all the countries to legalise weed I did not see this coming.. this will be interesting, I’ll get my popcorn ready 👀

  9. Dear German mateys, how’s the smoking situation right now? How readily available is it in Germany? Does the popo bother you? Do you guys smoke flower or hash? How hard is it to learn the German language?

  10. Italy with a referendum for cultivation ongoing and an open debate in Parliament about legalization: you want to race?
