  1. It is an “absolute shocking disgrace” says one elected idiot

  2. I find the idea of encouraging biodiversity in urban areas a bit eccentric. I can understand bees. I do understand flowers and plants. But what about foxes, rats, and other small mammals?

  3. What’s the point in having a council if they don’t do anything, bins no, water no, Cutting no, roads are shit, no bike lanes, bad business decisions. What can they not fuck up

  4. We gonna have an epidemic of ticks and tick borne diseases because of this

  5. The best thing to do would be to plant more flowers etc to promote biodiversity but this is probably a start

  6. The grass will all be scorched dead in a few years anyway

  7. This is nothing but a cost cutting exercise wrapped up in greenwashing.

  8. is the fact they dont want to spend the money and giving a BS excuse?

  9. I could understand the not cutting of the grass, but I could not understand not upkeeping the area/border around the grass. For example, in some cases its been allowed to take over half the paths in some parts it should be tidied back cause its lethal when it gets wet or mixed with leaves.

  10. Great news

    Save the 🐝 bees

    No mow may all year

  11. Someone needs to tell DCC and Fingal that leaving grass to grow is not the same as not maintaining the area.

  12. I’m all for biodiversity but this is more to save them money. If they want to encourage more wild growth then this would be better done in larger areas such as parks or planting more trees in large empty greens in housing estates that are never used. I’ve seen the council leaving them in busy areas to a point where it’s blocking the view of oncoming traffic.

  13. Hahaha this is nothing to do with the environment. Give it a few months and they can end all the expensive contracts with the lads who cut these verges and they won’t need equipment etc etc.

This will turn into a fucking shambles in no time.

  14. Total bullshit. If they really cared about bio diversity, they would replace the grass or create more bio divers areas.

  15. “Dublin City Council to stop cutting grass verges in effort to stop effort, using biodiversity as a buzzword to get out of basic upkeep.”

    Better.

  16. They did that here it’s a fucking disaster on some roads. Basic common sense is never applied.

  17. What a great excuse to not employ people to cut grass! 😃

  18. This is going to end up looking a bit shite, let’s be honest. Fill with thistles, nettles and rubbish.
