  1. Stop calling this controversial! The Russians have been doing it from day one. Suddenly we try it from the west people lament over it. The Ukraine should have rockeyes too.

  2. Fuck your controversy, and whoever keeps posting the word “controversial” in this sub next to cluster munitions!

  3. Quote: “They are using them appropriately,” National Security Spokesman John Kirby said on July 21. “They’re using them effectively, and they are actually having an impact on Russia’s defensive formations and Russia’s defensive maneuvering. I think I can leave it at that.”

When using them against defensive positions, I think they work best when used following the usual artillery barrages and not instead of. Weaken the defenses by precise targeting on the trench lines and, then, follow it up by covering the whole area with bomblets. Any survivors – especially those in isolated fox holes or secondary small trenches – get caught in the area effect.

  4. Nothing controversial using them in your own country against an aggressor.

  5. The argument against cluster munitions was the fact it left behind what were effecitvely mines. The occupied regions now have so many mines that the use of cluster munitions will not have any effect on environmental hazards.

  6. It’s insane these weren’t provided in large quantities last year. If they were then Bakhmut likely wouldn’t have fallen.

There are civilians sitting in mass graves because the cluster munitions that could have stopped the orc attackers were held back by hand wringing over unexploded ordinance.
