>Data from the European Travel Commission found that the popularity of Mediterranean vacation destinations dropped by 10% compared with last year.
Thank god Europe isn’t turning (far-)right, mainly focusing on immigration. Because *that* is the *only* problem these days, according to the right.
Traditional holiday destinations should start taking this more seriously and anticipate on having fewer and fewer tourists each year. And it’s not just the Mediterranean. Switzerland will see a huge drop in winter sport tourists due to the Alps melting. But I doubt they take it seriously. Because when it comes to climate change, no politician ever does anything. I highly doubt the likes of Meloni have climate change high on their priority list.
Just remember to pack rain gear if it is Denmark you are visiting. Umbrellas will not do. The wind is not good for them.
Sun screen is optional at the moment. Getting burned is more likely to be from a grill accident, than overexposure to the sun.
Well, thank fuck I got an AC a few years back.
Currently, Ireland is wet, windy, and cold

I’d like some sun too please. I don’t like having to wear a jacket in the middle of the summer
Anecdotal evidence, but my sister and her husband bought a summer house on Crete 5 years ago. I did warn them that it could be very warm in the next decade, but that wasn’t taken seriously by anyone back then.
They rent it out to tourists mainly from France and Germany. Not a gold mine, but pays their own tickets and a bit of the taxation in Crete.
Can’t blame them for buying it, and the house is wonderful, but this is the 2nd summer where they suffer with 39°C for days during July.
I don’t want to be the “Didn’t I tell you?” guy. So I stay quiet and hope for the best. But this year their little rental business didn’t do as well as the other years. Not as bad as during Covid at least. Is it a fluke? Who can tell.
And poor Crete. Their economy is very reliant on tourism, and agriculture. Both will suffer immensely during such murderous heat waves.
Getting that house rented out or even sold in 10 years could prove to be a challenge when everyone else tries to get out of the burning hot summers
