I know is a topic that we’ve discussed before here but I found interesting this article here. I am not saying that cameras are bad tool. But, it seems that while they might reduce side collisions and serious accidents, they turn junctions inefficient with minor rear end collisions (blocking lanes, waiting insurance companies etc etc).
I am not an expert so I don’t have the answer but maybe extending amber’s signal time might help.
I read others opinion about a countdown timer etc. but to be honest, I haven’t personally came across this solution in any of the EU countries I’ve visited apart from pedestrian crossing (if you have any reference).
