  1. In a typical late Reuters fashion they make it seem/plausible like there really was a sex-abuse case and not a false trumped up nonsense.

Same way they handwave away the increasing rehabilitation of Soviet criminals and whitewashing of these crimes by choosing to describe it only like:

    >The Soviet state disavowed Stalin’s repressions after the dictator’s death in 1953, but some still revere him for leading the country during its World War Two victory. Rights campaigners accuse Russia’s authorities of blocking efforts to account fully for Soviet repression.

Reuters is creating soft propaganda for Putin’s regime.

  2. This shows what a terrible totalitarian place Russia has become under Putin’s power.
He is killing, poisoning and arresting citizens who are let’s be frank “Anti-Putin’s Terror Regime”
He must be stopped before things escalate.

  3. The poor man is nearly 66 years old. He’ll likely not outlive his sentence. A very sad way to spend your last few good years.

  4. I feel fairly sure generation will go through another WW in the near future, only this time with far superior technology involved.

Here goes. I pray I have the fortitude to stand up to totalitarian rule, even though I know the odds are slim.

  5. You gotta love those headlines. One might even assume he was sentenced for being a Gulag historian, and not for paedophilia and abuse of his teenage adopted doughter.

  6. Of course fact that he abused his adopted daughter and had thousands photos with her in all sort of sexual situations is totally ignored by progressive westerners. Because dissidents should be above any law of course.
