Ahh corporate greed, you either love it or you hate it.
Odd that they selected Marmite, when the headline might be better as *’Megacorp profits soar as competition regulator looks for evidence of greed’*
Unilever OP margin at 17.1% vs Asda a 1.7% makes it clear that any investigation should’ve focused on the supply chain from the beginning. But even on here you’d have people blaming the supermarkets.
However, that’s not risen exceptionally either. People are angry but, as ever, the core reason for high inflation lies with the central banks.
‘Corporate greed’ is built into the system, it’s not a flaw but a design choice. It’s the reason we can eat food from all over the world, all year, at ridiculously low prices.
Looks (in the wrong directions) for evidence of greed.
Ah Unilever, sponsor of Russian terrorism.
They should be booted from the UK.
My CEO denied me an inflation payrise and only gave me 4%
Yet our sales targets have risen by more than inflation or the ‘company would be loosing money’ 🙃
You don’t have to buy any of their products. Every single one has a private label knock-off on the shelf next to it, from Magnum to Lynx to Knorr.
‘While Unilever’s margins remain below pre-pandemic levels, they are likely to come under CMA scrutiny as the watchdog examines if shoppers are being asked to pay over the odds.’
So margins haven’t yet been restored to pre pandemic levels? How does that tally with the acusation of profiteering from the cost of living crisis?
