Maltese refusing to take criticism to heart because of their huge inflated ego, lack of self awareness and superiority complex drilled into their head from birth.
You guys act like Malta is the best country in the world and anybody shouldn’t be complaining at all. It’s a bit sad sometimes to be honest, I know my country is not perfect and I don’t get all hooligan when there is criticism from foreigners or locals
Honestly it’s pretty easy to rip-apart any European country with some research about what’s going on there. Any European foreigner in Malta who thinks here is the worst is totally deluded.
I complain traditions as long as they affect my quality of life. A don’t complain for a festa, I complain for 8am fireworks in the weekend
Some of us that criticise it are Maltese yk?
Foreigners and locals have an equal right to complain. They both work and live on the island. Remove the labels, we are all in this together.
Culture? It’s a fucking rock.
Haha that’s fair, but let me clarify why I as a foreigner complain. I’m okay with Malta not being a perfect country, I’m okay with Malta not having the same kind of infrastructure as the country I came from. No the reason I complain about Malta is because the problem I see are in my opinion relatively easy to fix.
Maybe if Maltese people starting acting a bit more respectful towards each other (and the same goes with foreigners) then I’ll bet Malta would be a pretty damn decent country to be in.
There’s a lot of good people in this country, I will never say anything differently, but I’ve never been to a country like this before where so many people act with this level of disdain, lack of respect and aggressiveness towards each other. It’s like everyone here has an extremely short fuse and can explode at the smallest inconvenience.
People in this country should learn to count to 10 and that goes for both Maltese people and foreigners. Treat each other with kindness and respect. And count to 10 when someone puts you in an inconvenient situation.
What are examples of traditions foreigners have said should be abolished? Genuinely curious.
Name at least one European / EU country (since we need to compare like with like) which has experienced daily multiple power cuts for the past 7 days with no one resigning or at the very least held accountable. At best, we’re told to read books by an imbecile who fancies herself a politician. This is 3rd world country scenario!
As a Maltese, I’m first to admit that we’re instantly butthurt when it comes to receiving criticism especially from foreigners who despite working here and paying taxes cannot even vote. So how do you reckon they can vent their aggravations? Ironically there are many foreigners doing what us Maltese should be doing in the first place. The lady heading the Malta Ranger Unit springs to mind.
And even then, what makes you think it’s only foreigners that complain? I’m so fed up of living here that it’s literally driving me nuts in part because of your so called ‘traditions and cultures’, the perpetual excuse for doing jack all and accepting the status quo.
And no, sadly I cannot leave. Some of us are ‘burdened’ with responsibilities and obligations.
IDGAF about anyone’s culture, it’s 40 degrees in the summer in here and I’m all for it, never going back to my frozen Nordic hellhole and I’m way too happy to complain.
Not sure about this sub, but at least at my workplace it’s the Maltese people who complain, us immigrants are too busy enjoying the sun as it’s something we don’t have at home. A lot of my Maltese coworkers are looking to move to another country, which I find strange. I think it’s mostly the traffic for them, sprinkled with some less than wholesome corruption. Speaking of corruption, cool to see that Maltese people got together to fight for Jean Paul Sofia, props for that.
I will complain though if my electricity gets cut, that’s not good
Except we can’t use a keyboard/desktop BECAUSE THERE’S NO BLOODY POWER
A lot of the ultra negative posts in this sub are from locals, who talk about how much worse we are than other countries (we do have an inferiority complex being such a small country).
It wouldn’t be the first time I’ve seen foreigners in this sub speak positively and remind people it’s not completely rosy in other EU countries either.
I’m Maltese and can wholeheartedly say it’s the worst country in Europe. I was born and raised here, still live here as I have dependents that cannot leave due to health conditions. The past 10 years, it’s become a SHIT show. If you’ve never experienced Malta as it was before then you might think it’s bearable to live in.
Do you ever think it comes from the frustration that we are not allowed to vote or help make better changes to Malta. Yes we come here and pay taxes but we wonder where our taxes are going when our right to vote has been revoked.
However you as a Maltese citizen can vote and make changes, we stand here wondering how and why is this happening when we can see the easy solutions they are just not chosen. I don’t understand how it’s not seen as frustration on wanting Malta to be better rather than a personal attack on the Maltese people.
The non nationals here have a love for Malta it’s why we choose to stay but according to the Maltese we aren’t allowed complain, must pay tax and not allowed to vote. We must sit and smile say how much we adore Malta while Malta take the taxes and do as little as possible. Aren’t we allowed to be frustrated?
Also before any assumption I’m from the EU and our right to vote was taken upon applying for our Maltese ID’s, it’s standard for residents here.
I trust you won’t find any South Africans complaining 😆😆😆
Actually – as a foreigner here – to me, it feels the other way around. All my expat friends living here absolutely love it… as do I,, best place I ever lived.
Though our Malta friends always complain about how miserable Malta is.
Worse even: getting insulted or called a liar when you imply it’s not that bad.
