I would like to start playing in ranking matches/tournaments as an amateur, but unfortunately I don’t know how the system works at all, I’ve never played in competition level before. It is clear that you have to buy a license first, and I found the complicated classification formula and tournament calendar on [swisstennis.ch](https://swisstennis.ch).
What I don’t understand is how can I play ranking matches? If I understand correctly, everyone starts from the lowest, R9 level and at the two (spring and autumn) classification dates each year, the current ranking is recalculated based on the results of the last 12 months.
How can I play ranking matches outside of tournaments? Is there some random generator that pairs matches by location and strength? Or do I have to directly contact other players close to my rank in clubs in or near my city myself? But if I don’t know anyone, how can I manage this?
