> But Orban is also aware of the zeitgeist and of the fresh wave of female politicians emerging globally. He has calculated that Hungary should be no exception – **as long as he can control the tide.**
There we go.
In reality it didn’t stun anyone, in Eastern European countries we have no problem with women in politics or in workplace, we don’t need to overpoliticize and make a big deal about such issues. There’s a reason why there’s so many more women scientists, doctors etc in East Europe compared to West. Croatia’s right wing party “HDZ” had the first female prime minister, nominated the first female president and won, nominated the first female state attorney etc. It’s really no big deal here, atleast we don’t make a big deal out of it. If someone is competent that’s all that matters.
FAMILY, yeah yeah.. Remember Orban’s beard man MEP in Brussels? It’s all so fake as hell.
If you’re stupid enough to be moved either way by this I have crypto to sell you.
omg so progressive
Budget Zuzana
She’s just another religious fundamentalist, a friend of the Polish pro-forced birth brigade. These people are the worst.
Regardless of her gender, she does appear to have a pretty strong background and lots of experience in foreign affairs which indicate she might be a successful president. Probably a little too close to Orban though, I’m interested to see how the her relationship with the new government would be *if* the United Opposition would win the next general election.
Why do you focus on fact that she is a woman so much? Is it western thing? Do you expect some specific worldview because she is a woman?
“But Novak will never challenge Orban or step out of the official narrative. She supported the government’s conservative constitutional amendment last year, specifying that a father must be a man and that a mother is a woman.
In the international arena, she is also responsible for forging ties between Fidesz and some hardcore radical right-wing parties in Europe”
Blessed be the fruit.
Ah it’s the Hungarian edition of Andrzej Duda AKA Le Pen.
Why would this stun anybody? Even here in Latvia we have our fill of women that are anti-feminist and insanely right-wing. Being a woman or identifying with being a woman has nothing to do with being progressive or right on issues. But it’s funny to see right-wingers weaponizing identity politics after they’ve spent years crying about it.
Orban, the conservative progressive 😀 Now he’s consorship on state-owned media can officially be called cancel-culture!
On a more serious note, the President of Hungary is an extremely powerless position anyways
