Interested to see what people think of the Met’s comments here, and what they make of JSO’s tactics!
I mean.. we need more of JSO if we all don’t want to burn. Take a look at Europe. It needs shoving down people’s throats as they just don’t seem to be getting it.
Stuff. Is. Burning! People are dying. And Sky news is running articles on where to holiday now climate change has ruined our usual spots.
We truly are in Don’t Look Up realms of ignorance here.
One of the JSO crew was on TV a couple of days ago and announced that ‘…..a hundred new oil licences have just been granted by the Govt….’ and then proceeded to say that they’re protesting ‘…..to stop new licences being granted….’.
Blocking roads appears to be working then.
Most of the British public already support action on climate change. I really don’t see what pissing them off accomplishes. Stopping a bunch of people getting to work isn’t going to stop the government from doing things. In fact it does more harm than good because it just provides the right wing media with more ammunition to attack climate policies.
When food shortages, water rationing due to drought, and climate immigration begin, people will wish they took climate change protesters more seriously. They are a tiny inconvenience compared to what is coming and it begs belief that people cannot see or understand this. Climate change is going to be the worst thing most of us will ever face and the rich and powerful will do nothing to help us. We need to be protesting and changing our lifestyles in a significant manner now, otherwise our future is looking increasingly grim.
Simple. Make them pay the fee and then donate that money to climate change initiatives and see if they complain.
