  1. The Blackfeet volunteer has this to say about this picture and the Kinatsoomiitaks Blackfeet warrior society:

“My name is Giaxsis. This picture is of my lodge. This flag I captured in battle fighting the Russians in Ukraine. I am Kinatsoomiitaks outrider of the Blackfeet Nation. The Kinatsoomiitaks is a warrior society that is thousands of years old. The Blackfeet are fierce warriors. Some of the best fighters In the world….

From conception, we are brought up as warriors. To call yourself a true warrior, you have to go to war. I am a Kinatsoomiitaks outrider which is 2nd in command of my warrior society. Myself and my people would like to say ‘Thank You Protect A Volunteer’….

Kinatsoomiitaks has many aspects and traditions. One is the hunting of animals such as elk in the mountains….When we hunt, we maneuver without talking, having complete awareness of our surroundings because we cannot lose track of the big game nor who is with us. It is important to step lightly and move quietly. Being a Marksmen is common on my reservation because we go hunting with our fathers at a very young age. This is where we learn discipline and hard work….

The second is the ability to ride a horse extremely well. Horsemanship is what makes us have great balance with core strength….

An old saying I once heard was that if you eat elk you become strong like elk and can see as well as them in the night. So, when I was fighting in Ukraine and was not issued night vision, it was not a problem for me because I have eaten elk many times.”

  2. This is u/rcmcd922 posting for u/tallalittlebit while she’s on a break

We posted about this volunteer several months ago ([see original post](https://www.reddit.com/r/ukraine/comments/12iu4j6/volunteers_from_around_the_world_joined_the/)). He had several donors through Protect A Volunteer who helped him purchase gear to stay safe – one even named herself his “virtual babushka” 😉. While his fight has ended, there are many more warriors still fighting who need sponsorship. Protect A Volunteer is a program where we match donors directly to volunteers to help them purchase gear, vehicles, medical supplies, even food and gas, to survive this war. Sign up to be a donor at http://www.protectavolunteer.com and select “Supplies Donations”. You can contribute a minimum of $25 monthly or $100 or more if one time only. We pool several donors together to one volunteer.

  3. Glad you are home safe GI ax sis (and away from the polecats.). I highly encourage anyone who can to join ‘Protect a Volunteer’, even small amounts can make a big and personal contribution.

  4. A powerful post. You are a good storyteller – may the younger people gather around to hear and learn. Thank you.
