Visiting with family just a few miles from there for Christmas. Light snow a few days before Christmas and sunny skies after.

Much too small
As someone from Hamburg, you will find it most cramped, lots of homeless, a lot of shady people, pigeons and it doesn’t help that “Steindamm” (area where lots of foreigners of all sorts are doing dubious business (prostitution, drugs)) is close to the Central Station and “the Drob Inn” (a public space where drug addicts gather and get sterile syringes for getting their high in a hygienic environment which is generally good).
Go to Hamburg by train and then leave that area; and if you have to stay there for a connecting train, stay on the platforms.
It’s not dangerous in general, but if you wanna see shady people and doubtful life styles, that’s the spot.
Is this meant to show the beauty of the Hamburg Hbf? I’m not seeing it, neither in this picture, nor when I’m there.
Never saw a place so dirty and full of human misery like this in Europe.
a.k.a. the worst central station there is (at least in a larger German city)
Ritter Chocolate station for me 🙂
Exit left for posh shopping. Exit right for edginess.
I was there last October, it honestly didn’t feel as bad as some people make it out to be, nor did the area around it. Bit crowded yeah, but never felt unsafe. Quite nice restaurants and food in the area as well.
İs anyone who stay at generator Hamburg hostel ? İt’s so close to bahnof
