What Putin Really Wants in Ukraine: Russia Seeks to Stop NATO’s Expansion, Not to Annex More Territory

  1. Putin just can’t handle the expansion of NATO because that means he can’t invade those countries without going to war with half the world.

  2. Yeah well, Russia rules over Russia,

other countries rule over their own countries.

What’s so hard to understand about that?

  3. Putin wants a reliable client state as a buffer. He’s threatened by Ukraine’s choice to make closer ties to the West. That’s not NATO expansion, that’s self-determination for Ukraine.

Edit: “buffer” as if that made any sense in today’s interconnected world. This sort of dinosaur thinking is gonna make a mess…

  4. So he seeks to have complete control over Ukraine, and treat it like his property. The author wrote this long article just to portray a de facto occupation, depriving Ukraine of its sovereignty, and somehow make it an appealing option by not directly calling it a Russian occupation.

  5. Yeah, we don’t get it already, it would be great to have a sticked counter of article about how Russia seeks to stop nato expansion since the crisis.

Theories don’t matter, what matter is what they do, and for the moment they still have a major build up at the border.

They removed 10k, rest like 90K + armors and other stuff.

  6. What Putin really wants ?

To protect his looted goods and cash in some nice, sympathetic private banks, in London, Paris, New York City, Los Angeles, Oslo, Lisbon, and Copenhagen.

Amsterdam, Madrid, and Stockholm if he can get them too.
