Can someone explain the joke?

  1. It is somewhat usual that cafes only serve you jugs of coffee when sitting outside (“Draußen nur Kännchen”) instead of individual cups of coffee. My guess is that this is because then the waiter does not has to come outside as often. The joke is that it applies the same rule to beer.

  2. It pokes fun at the old “Draußen nur Kännchen!” rule of restaurants not serving cups of coffee in their outdoor area but just pots.

  3. In traditional Cafés, you can often find signs outside “draußen nur Kännchen“ ,meaning when sitting on the tables outside you can only order coffee in small pots (Kännchen), not by the cup.

This comic applies the same, but for beer

  4. I am German and had to read the comments to get the “joke”.
