  3. Many Ukrainians here in the USA have stopped talking to Russians they suspect support Putin. We see their social media posts and that’s enough for us to avoid them. This is normal. Good victory for her.

  4. I am not going to question her decision. But having been in the fencing world a long time, not shaking your opponent’s hand after a match is a big deal.

  12. This might not seem to be in the spirit of sports but unfortunately Russians must get the message that the behaviour of their country is intolerable.

  20. Even ‘Good’ Russians can’t expect to be anything but social pariahs in most quarters while their country is murdering another country’s population. It’s hard on many of them because they may be powerless to do anything about it, so maybe they should take it personally.

  23. I’m a french fencer. Here if you do not salute or/and shake hands, even if you won, you end up losing the game.
    Just my 2 cents.
