> even under a medium emissions scenario a year like 2022… could be the norm by the middle of the century and relatively cool by the end of the century

It won’t seem cool though will it. Nobody sits around in 40 degree heat and thinks it’s sorta nice, maybe get a cardigan.
No. What they mean is “UK’s summer of 2022 will seem less apocalyptic”.
TL;DR
If you can afford it, look to start investing in central AC units as they will just become more needed each year.
Unless we evolve to have a different core temperature, 40C will never seem cool.
But given the other article today that the gulf stream might collapse soon, wouldnt that result in a huge chilling of the UK and put us more on par with other countries at our latitidue?
Can anyone explain why this year is cooler than last year?
What’s stopping next year following 2023 as opposed to 2022?
That’s fine anyone reading this will be dead by the turn of the century. No doubt in 30 years when everything is still fine the next generation can continue the fear-mongering campaign. Remember folks, we’ve been “doomed” since the 70s . Eventually it’ll happen for sure, a broken clock is right twice a day.
Our carbon footprint will be less when we can grow our own bananas.
Kinda hard to take that seriously when it’s been pissing down with rain for 2 months and we’ve had highs of 20…
They are saying this during one of the coldest, wettest summers i can remember! Thats typical of the met office…. promise sunshine when its raining!
Probably doesn’t help to make this argument during one of the mildest sunmers in recent memory.
The actual quote in the article says “could”, they have changed it to “will” in the headline.
Not sure the situation really requires exaggeration.
Ok cool so in light of this news can we ban GB News from all broadcasting since they’re denying the existence of climate change
A lot of people will die over the next years due to ever rising heat until humanity will likely be desperate pockets crowded together wherever there is arable land.
