  1. “A licensing system, based on compliance with the strengthened standards should be introduced and applied rigorously to all services, to ensure the quality of services and that those not compliant with them are not permitted to operate”

Poor people deserve standards too 🤷‍♂️

  2. Nothing wrong with having them comply to food safety standards.

  3. They are producing and distributing food. It should be of the required standard.

  4. There’s too many of these and they need to be regulated.

The people working at them aren’t food trained, they aren’t trained to be working with vulnerable people and they aren’t Garda vetted.

Eventually something bad is going to happen, like with the Inner City Helping the Homeless guy.

  5. It’s the permit charge I’d be more concerned about

  6. There are too many poor and homeless people having to go to charities for food. Well we should get rid of some of those charities.

  7. I walk past the oconnell street ones all the time and I’m sorry but they are a huge contributor to the decline of the city centre. Its a complete atmosphere of chaos and its gross having people eating sitting on the ground everywhere. Nothing looks clean, It’s all drug addicts and huge groups of roma. It’s sad that so many people use the service but like the middle of the main thoroughfare of the city centre nearly every evening is an insane situation. If they would club together rather than everyone needing to run their own fiefdom they could get a location to run the thing properly. It’s a power trip for those involved and all the drugs and homelessness services say they’re not helping at all.

  8. Doesn’t sound like a big deal unless there’s a particular difficulty in getting the permits.

Most of these charities are already being safe anyway, so this is no problem.

Over the last few years we attempted to donate leftover food after events to homeless charities and were told they can’t accept it because they can’t trace where it came from or how it’s been stored. Which is reasonable.

  9. The big problem I can see here is that they can simple deny giving anyone permits.

Even if they did everything right the council will just be like “we don’t want homeless people gathering together in that area”

Basically they want to fine people who help the homeless thats it

  10. People complaining about homeless people receiving food and the people providing may not be up to standard.

Homeless people are eating leftovers, out of bins, you name it. Prices have increased they certainly can’t afford straight meals every day.

Another reason to license and tax another moral good. Joke of a country.
