
It got me thinking about what is the “loneliest” job in Iceland. Iceland is much smaller than Russia, but the weather and terrain conditions could certainly make some places inaccessible during different parts of the year.

I think I remember reading about a woman who stays in Landmannalaugar (edit: might be elsewhere in highlands) at a hut or research outpost of some kind through the winter. I recall two (?) winters ago her interview about the tremendous snowfall. Also I was curious about this more after reading Roni Horn’s account of her 2 month stay in the lighthouse at Dyrhólaey some decades ago.
