Coming up next, McDonalds offers subscription service for ice cream.
> Another customer, Brendan, also subscribed, limiting himself to two drinks a day “to stay healthy”. But he told the BBC that by mid-afternoon mango and pineapple preference is often not available.
I’m devastated for Brendan, what an horrific experience.
“Staff are just frustrated and tired with the endless smoothie and frappes giveaway, and they just boycott it, ” he said. “It is just easy to say that ice or smoothies or frappe are gone for today”
This seems really odd considering it’s literally what they’re paid to do? If you don’t enjoy making beverages for a living then surely you should be finding another job instead of refusing to do it? It’s not like people are asking for custom drinks as they’re all available on the menu.
They say it takes a min and a half to prepare one and they feel pressure but if that’s how long it takes then…what’s to worry about? Surely Pret installed the blenders, decided on the menu and implemented the recipe and if it takes 2 mins then it takes 2 mins why stress about it.
And the news *finally* reports on the really important social issue of the day.
This is worse than the holocaust.
“We want to work from home, not prop up a Prett’s overpriced sarnie lobby!” – guess that didn’t last ey’ lads. Back to the office with all of ye.
I’ve never been in one of these coffee shops, am I missing something?
I find people that are outraged by their perceived injustice from shops to be weird. If they fuck you off, fuck them off and you take your custom elsewhere. It’s not a public service LOL.
You think a company like Pret cares about customer loyalty? The pandemic has changed nothing, they want your business and your money, nothing more. They are not providing this offer because they are a socially responsible company who want to make their customers happy, they are providing it to hook people in and to get them spending money again.
If the coffee shop isn’t giving you what you’re looking for just cancel the subscription and go somewhere else?
I signed up to this subscription for the £1 month. Had two Pret coffees most days. Cancelled after that. 10/10 would pay a quid for 60 coffees again.
Mostly I prefer to just take a flask with me.
Well then unsubscribe if you don’t feel like you’re getting your money’s worth. It’s pretty bloody easy
I have to say I’ve noticed a huge change in customers attitudes at the Pret near my work since the subscription service really took off. The poor staff are literally rushed off their feet almost every time I go in now and my order regularly gets missed/lost. I’ve been frequenting this shop since mid 2018 and they used to have a really solid team but now over half of the long time members of staff have quit because of the way they’re being treated by customers. The entitlement is incredible
When the pandemic is over, I’d like to see a pub chain do something like this. Basically create the CostCo of pubs.
For a monthly or annual membership fee, you get access to their venues and the ability to buy beer, cider, lager and spirits at low or even virtually nonexistent profit margins. Regular pub-goers get their money’s worth, while occasional drinkers get to benefit from a chain that pays staff better wages, has well-maintained pubs and which has a barrier to entry that would deter a lot of bad behaviour.
Fresh ingredients run out at cafe. Customers bemused and outraged because they thought fresh ingredients were limitless.
Oh no, how terrible. Truly, this is the worst thing ever.
I feel sorry for the poor staff who have to deal with the shit that people will throw at them. It’s not their fault that they can’t get the supplies required and sounds like Pret did it without planning for potential shortages caused by an upsurge in products being sold.

FOr £20, i can easily make smoothies(Granted, I am limited by the bullet blender due to it’s weak power) and it would be worth it for me.

This is outrageous. Brendan is missing out on his [daily 84g of sugar.](https://www.pret.co.uk/en-GB/products/UK005031/mango-and-pineapple-smoothie)
