The Rivne City Court has ordered the arrest of the head of the Rivne Oblast military recruitment center, who physically assaulted a subordinate soldier, on July 28, according to the State Bureau of Investigations (DBR).
On the eve of July 27, the official was informed of the charges against him for assaulting the subordinate soldier, and subsequently, he was apprehended.
An investigation revealed that this official, along with the director of the district recruitment office, attacked a man with a bat and compelled him to “beg for forgiveness” on his knees. The entire incident was recorded on a mobile phone.
If found guilty, the individual could face up to 12 years of imprisonment under the article on the abuse of power or official authority by a military official during wartime (part 5 of article 426-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Media reports have identified the accused official as Serhii Lutsiuk.
On July 25, Zelenskyy revealed the “disturbing results” of the inspection, stating that “Today, some preliminary results of inspections from other enlistment offices, besides the former Odesa one, were presented to me. And the findings are distressing. Of course, law enforcement will handle them appropriately, and society will be informed of everything.”
WTF
I guess that’s what decades of soviet culture does to some people…
But modern-day Ukraine is putting an end to this crap.
They are really cleaning house. Zelensky orderd an investigation into all commissariats and the law enforcement agents are apparently already on some other cases.
Good. This old Soviet BS has no place in a modern day army.
It’s great they are rooting this out because we only have to look at Russia’s disregard for their fellow countrymen to see what kind of army it creates.
Blame it on the vodka!
And yes once Ukraine wins their whole Country back I want them to establish tribunals made up of the fighting veteran soldiers from the war and pay them to weed out the last semblance of corruption and russian sympathizer. The corrupt pieces of shit in Ukraine must never be able to benefit from the blood sacrificed to keep their Country free.
When it’s so bad that your president calls out your fuck up…. It’s a good play on the Ukrainian government to be super transparent on this. Bad for the one charged but for a diplomatic stance, it shows Ukraine taking the behavior of it’s servicemen/ women seriously and holding them to account. This should boost confidence in Ukraine by NATO.
He should be sent to the front line.
Send his ass to Bakhmut and have him reenlist soldiers on the front
The fact that this happened is terrible. The fact that they were removed is evidence of the fact that Ukraine is serious about modernizing it’s army and removing all traces of Soviet leadership and doctrine. It takes time, but it’s happening.
