  1. > “Maar de aanpak van burgerlijke ongehoorzaamheid, aangemoedigd door politici, maar ook door de gerechtelijke autoriteiten, is volledig destructief voor de geloofwaardigheid van de rechtsstaat en onze instellingen. Waarom sluitingen respecteren en andere niet?”

You know how, when someone does something they know other people will think is bad, they’ll do something to overcompensate? Believing that others will accept it, but actually people will notice how specific the situation is and wonder if the person is overcompensating?

This article makes me feel like Bouchez is behind the closing of the cultural sector and is now trying to make a big show of “law and order” and “respect for the state”.

He’s not stupid. He knows full well that people are pissed and by going onto the media and saying things like “maybe have politicians change the rules” and “you can discuss all you want but you cannot disobey” he’s only fanning the flames.

I feel like this is a false flag operation by Bouchez, and his ultimate goal is to undermine the credibility of the government as much as possible.

  2. I dislike the reaction of mayors, prosecutors and police departments.

These entities do not get to decide what laws to enforce and which they do not like. With the possible exception of prosecutors, but they should not make blanket statements like this. Each case is to be judged on its merits.

If we are all going to pick and choose what laws to follow and enforce, where’s the credibility of your rule of law?
