I am surprised that people are prepared to come to the UK from places like Poland (Ukraine or Moldova would be less surprising) on this visa but this kind of confirms my suspicions that brexit won’t improve salaries and conditions for certain jobs long term.
The new system might even be the worst of both worlds. Wages only go up a bit, industries scream they don’t have enough workers and get a government visa. The vacancies then become temporary / seasonal and get filled by people on short-term working visas.
Edit: just had a look, in industrial freezers poultry can be stored for up to 2 years. Get the guys in for Christmas and get them to process more Turkeys than needed for Christmas and store the rest as buffer stock.
Why moldova dear? Most qualified citizens have left already as I understood. And it is a quite small country regarding workforce reservoir. Probably they could come from Transnistria. Noroc!
