All I know is that he was a volunteer soldier in the Polish-Soviet War. During the war, he was shot in the face, but he survived (I assume this photo was taken before he was shot, since the bullet wound isn’t visible). What is the meaning of this booklet? Is it related to his injury? Or did all soldiers receive something like this? Does the cross with “1930” mean it was issued in that year? (I’m confused by this because that was long after the war ended).

Dziękuję!

  1. world war 2 was from 1939-45 so probably he was in this war?

  2. I thought it said “Poopis” under his photo and am a little disappointed i looked at it more carefully.

  3. Kalita is rather Ukrainian family name. And he weird in embroidered shirt, that is Ukrainian traditional . I think he is from Galicia (Lemberg in Austria Hungary Imperia till 1918, in 1920-1939 Lwow Poland, now Lviw Ukraine.). I think he got the passport in 1930. USSR occupied the territory in 1939-1941. He could be zholniezh (soldier) Poland Army.
